ひぐらしの声

ああ　今年も

ひぐらしが鳴き出した

ひぐらしの声は

若くして戦争で死んだ

二人のあんちゃんの声だ

そして

二人のあんちゃんの名を

死ぬまで呼びつづけていた

悲しい母の声だ

そしてまた

二人のあんちゃんのことには

ひとこともふれず

だまって死んでいった

さびしい父の声だ

ああ　今年も

ひぐらしが鳴き出した

the voice of the higurashi cicada

hmm, the cicadas have begun singing again this year

the voices of the cicadas are

the voices of my two brothers

killed in their youth by war

and the sad voice of my mother

who called their names up until the time of her death

and then again the voice of my lonely father who died silent, never speaking a word of my two brothers

hmm, the cicadas have begun singing again this year
